The whole video was created in cinema4d with some post production in After Effects for the lens flairs and titles. Sound design was produced in Ableton live.

The Main header was created in Cinema 4D. I used Clothilde, the cloth engine, and was inspired by this cushion technique by Rob Redman to give some realism to the textile sculptures. The whole website was conceptualized, design and coded  in a bit more than 19 hours spread over a few weeks.

I also used the new media query which people refers to as responsive design. It’s great,  very useful on simple designs and easy to use as it only relies on css, which is what web designer knows. It’s like an upgrade to fluid design. But managing different devices with php might be still more powerful as it doesn’t rely on screen resolution. For example giving lighter images for mobile users who often use their mobile on 3G. Soon smartphones will have the same or an higher resolution as netbooks or or older laptops and you won’t be able to rely on media query to categorize devices.

Soundcloud is Gold is now available on Soundcloud’s App Gallery!

You can set default settings in the option page, choose your defaut soundcloud player (Mini, Standard, Artwork, Html5), it’s width, add extra classes for you CSS lovers, show comments, autoplay and your favorite color.

You’ll also be able to set players to different settings before adding to your post if you fancy a one off change.

Soundcloud is Gold use a shortcode but the “Soundcloud is Gold” tab will write it for you dynamically as you select parameters, and on top of this it will provide a nice live preview of your player so you know what does what. When done just press the ‘insert soundcloud player’ and it will added to your post just like when you’re adding a photo or gallery.
